My recent stay at Medic Hotel over Christmas felt like a mixed bag, albeit with a few shining gems. Nestled conveniently near the National Palace of Culture, it truly caters to the explorer in me, giving easy access to Sofia's vibrant heart. The winter garden, complete with a cozy open fireplace, became a cherished retreat where I enjoyed warm chats with my travel companions after a day of sightseeing. While the hotel features newly opened luxurious rooms with reliable internet, I found myself yearning for a bit more comfort—the beds were not the best for a rejuvenating sleep after a long day trekking the city’s sights. On the flip side, the restaurant offered a delightful range of freshly cooked dishes, perfect for a quick bite before heading out for more adventures. Though the hospitality captured the warm spirit I cherish as a mountaineer, I couldn't ignore the quieter hiccups of the stay. I would say that, with its strategic location and hints of comfort, it’s a place I might consider again if I’m in need of a budget-friendly base while soaking in the culture of Sofia.
